Public Services Department

The Public Services Department was established based on the directives of the executive council in the administrative decision no. 24 for 2000. It is one of the active departments of the Directorate of Town Planning and Survey that is concerned with public services and utilities in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinating the meetings of the Basic Services Co-ordination Committee.
  • Making sure of the tracks of service lines before making any amendment.
  • Studying the designs of roads and the car-parks of buildings.
  • Proposing, evaluating and following up the implementation of the required transport policies.
  • Preparing the comprehensive plan for developing the transport sector.
  • Updating the databases of roads.
  • Reviewing service lines and the right of way of each and giving the required permits.
  • Studying the levels of roads and buildings and giving building levels to applicants.
  • Forming a road database and conducting and updating transport studies in terms of any changes in the road network of the Emirate of Sharjah.
  • Preparing a database for electricity, water, communication, gas and sewerage services.
  • Locating the interlock area around plots of land.
  • Determining the levels of the plot of land on which a building is wanted to be set up.
  • Supervising the design and installation of (land and arc-like) guiding signs of the road network and updating the existing ones.
  • Issuing permits for the temporary use of lands.
  • Tracking the naming and numbering project in the emirate.
